WICHITA, Kansas – Fire investigators say a discarded cigarette is to blame for a fire that damaged a Silver Springs Apartment building Thursday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the west Wichita apartments shortly after 2 a.m.
They say a neighbor notified the occupant of the apartment where the fire started and everyone got out safely.
The initial damage estimates are at $31,000 but could go higher because some of the apartments have water damage.
The fire department is not sure how many people have been displaced.
