WICHITA, Kansas - Quick action by firefighters is being credited for saving a south Wichita home.
Just before 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, a home in the 2200 block of South Kansas caught fire. When firefighters arrived, one bedroom in the house was involved. Crews were able to contain the fire to that one bedroom.
It took crews just two minutes to arrive since they were responding from one of the city's newest fire stations.
"It's definitely going to save lives for sure," firefighter Jeremy Menges said. "We got here pretty quick, within two minutes of the call probably. You can see that we kept the fire to the main room of origin."
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The home sustained $15,000 in damage. The cause is under investigation.
