WICHITA, Kansas-- It's been a season of highs for the Wichita State men's basketball team.

They are 24-4 overall, they've partially clinched the Missouri Valley Conference championship, and are now ranked 19 in both the USA Today coaches poll and the Associated Press poll.

"I was excited that we're finally on the map,” said Andrea Gramke, a WSU senior.  “People will finally know WSU a little better."

Shocker success is nothing new.  They were the NIT champions last year, and many fans say this year the team can do even better.

"We think they are going all the way,” said Jana Hollingshad, a Shocker fan.

On campus a statement is being made.  The campus bookstore has rolled out the conference championship t-shirts, and Shocker gear is selling fast.

"Students are really excited,” said Kevin Konda, Campus Bookstore Director.  “They are really looking forward to the post season and the games coming up.”

They haven't officially clinched the championship, but fans calling in to the Gregg Marshall show are already looking to March.

“They play as a team and they are talented,” said David Hollingshad, a WSU fan.  “They are deep, they are just fun to watch."

Even alumni members are calling in to ask about plans for the post season.

"We've done some internal talking of how we are going to get our fans there,” said Debbie Kennedy, Executive Director of the WSU Alumni Association.

Shocker fans are buzzing about this season, and of course, they want to go all the way.  So, what does the coach have to say to that?

"As a basketball coach and a basketball team we have to stay on task, and the next task is to go to normal and play Wednesday night,” said Men’s head basketball coach, Gregg Marshall.

Marshall said he wants to keep the team humble, but he says fans thinking ahead could certainly help the team get ahead.
