Skyline Corporation to shut down Halstead plant

HALSTEAD, Kansas – Longtime manufactured home maker Skyline Corporation is shutting down its plant in the small town of Halstead just west of Newton.

Skyline Corporation’s Halstead plant has been in business for about 30 years, but will close in November, leaving 82 employees without a job.

Plant officials aren’t releasing a reason for the shutdown, but employees say they’ve been on reduced work weeks since Thanksgiving.
