WICHITA, Kansas – A fast-moving storm hit south central Kansas Monday afternoon bringing strong winds and a lot of hail to the area.
The storm moved into the area shortly after 3 p.m.
Wind gusted up to almost 70 mph in some places around the metro area. Jabara Airport recorded a 67 mph wind gust.
Some of the damage reports include car windows blown out in Andover, trees toppled in Hutchinson and fences damaged northwest of Clearwater.
There's a report of the wind moving at least a dozen cars in the Butler County College parking lot at 13th and Andover Road.
Most of the hail was small, from penny- to nickel-size, but there was a lot of it. The hail covered lawns, driveways and patio decks.
The largest hail reported Monday was one inch hail in eastern Sedgwick County.
There are no reports of injuries from the storm.
