WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are investigating a double homicide after two men are shot dead in the parking lot of a west Wichita apartment complex. Police have made an arrest in the case.

Police say they have a 21-year-old suspect in custody being held on charges of first degree murder.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 4000 block of W. Memory Lane near 13th and Zoo Blvd at around 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Investigators say five or six people were in the parking lot when the suspect had a minor disagreement with one of the victims over an argument from a few weeks ago. That’s when the suspect allegedly shot the first victim and then turned the gun on the second.

"Both have been pronounced -- they are deceased,” said Lt. Brian White with the Wichita Police Department. “One of which was transported to the hospital, one of which was pronounced on scene."

The two victims are 18 and 23-year-old men. Police say there is no gang affiliation. The two deaths bring the city’s homicide count to 17 so far this year.
