WICHITA, Kansas – Beginning on the Fourth of July weekend Wichita police will be doing a month-long crackdown on speeders and drunk drivers traveling on Kellogg.
“Speeding and aggressive driving have taken a heavy toll on our community,” said Capt. Darren Moore with the Wichita Police Department.
According to Moore, over the last two years there have been 145 injury crashes on Kellogg with seven deaths in 2007 and two so far this year.
In an effort to reduce risks of crashes on Kellogg officers from all bureaus will conduct RADAR and LiDAR speed operations throughout the month of July. In addition, officers will conduct a DUI saturation patrol in the Patrol North Bureau beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night going into 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Another DUI saturation patrol will take place in the Patrol South Bureau later in July.
