"Wicked" cast members become victims of theft

WICHITA, Kansas – Some “Wicked” cast members have been burglarized while performing at Century II and police are searching for the culprit.

The crime happened during the musical’s opening weekend. Police say the thieves went into the dressing room area after the cast had left for the night and stole various personal items, including a laptop, camera, MP3 player, leather jacket and shoes. In all, they’re valued at $1,500.

Police say there are Century II security and staff and the musical’s cast and crew members around the building 24 hours a day. It's unknown if the dressing room area was locked.

“It's quite possible that that area could be accessible to people walking off the street, it just depends on the security, the level of security at the time,” said Lt. Mike Hennessy with the Wichita Police Department.

Police say the burglary serves as a reminder to everyone that you should always take items of value with you and don’t leave them even in an area that you think is secure. They have no suspects at this time.
