WICHITA, Kansas - The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department is investigating a report that a Sedgwick County resident stole as much as $8,000 worth of electricity over nearly seven years.
Westar Energy reported the theft to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies went to the address where the alleged theft occurred.
They found that a hole had been drilled in the meter, and a wire had been inserted to keep it from running.
Investigators believe the alteration was made in November 2006.
No arrests have been made so far.
