TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the keynote speaker at the Veterans Expo in Topeka.

Retired Gen. Richard Myers is scheduled to deliver his speech at 7 p.m. Thursday in Marvin Auditorium at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.

He will discuss the years following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and his new book, "Eyes on the Horizon: Serving on the Front Lines of National Security."

The expo will begin at 2:30 p.m. The event will include performances from military re-enactors and a display of war memorabilia from Word War I to the present.

The Kansas City-area native now lives in Arlington, Va., but returns each month to teach at Kansas State University.
