Wednesday's Child: Justice

By Kevin White

WICHITA, Kansas, Nov. 8, 2007 -- As the holidays roll around, it's time for families to come together. But for some kids, that's not the case. That's why the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program hopes you will sign on to become a mentor.

KSN's Leon Smitherman introduces us to one of those kids -- our Wednesday's Child -- Justice.

Fall and football just go together. The cool air in your lungs makes you run just a little quicker and you throw just a little straighter. It was on one such perfect fall afternoon that 11-year-old Justice and I set out to pass some time and the ball.

As you might imagine, Justice loves football. When he grows up he wants to play for K-State then onto the Dallas Cowboys!

But justice has a fallback plan if the professional football career doesn't pan out. He wants to be a cop.

Justice is one of those kids who you know you are going to like immediately. He's easy to talk to, he's got a great sense of humor and he's got enough self-confidence for 10 kids.

"I'm cool. I have a girlfriend sometimes," said Justice.

So if you have a little extra time on your hands, you like to play football and you think you might be a good Big Brother to a young man like Justice, why not give Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Sedgwick County a call. Who knows, it might be a perfect play.
