WICHITA, Kansas, May 7, 2008 – A good way to make a difference in a child’s life is by becoming a mentor. And with the warm weather comes a perfect time to get outside with a Little Brother or Sister.
Kobe wastes no time showing off his impressive soccer skills.
“My friend started playing soccer, and he invited me to one of his soccer practices and I decided that I liked it,” said Kobe.
Kobe has only been playing for one year, but you can tell he’s perfected his craft.
"I play pretty much everything, but my best is goalie,” Kobe said.
Kobe also loves to play basketball and likes to fish. He tells me he wants a Big Brother to be a positive influence in his life and to share in some activities he calls fun.
"I would like one because I only live with two girls and they don't like soccer,” Kobe said. “They don't play sports at all, and I would love to have somebody to play sports with.”
Off the field, Kobe is funny and intelligent. He’s already thinking abut high school and college and a unique career choice.
"I'd like to be a SWAT member,” Kobe said. “It just popped in my head.”
Whether it's a little help with academics or a game of soccer, donating a little bit of your time each week can make a big difference in a young child's life like Kobe. If that's your goal, consider becoming a Big Brother or Sister.
