Wednesday's Child: Brandon

By Jessica Oakley

WICHITA, Kansas, June 17, 2008 – If you’re adventurous and like to play games, you might be the perfect mentor for this months Wednesday’s Child.

It’s hard to think of any second grader who doesn’t like games and rides. I hung out with seven-year-old Brandon at All Star Adventures in east Wichita where he was ready to have some fun.

Brandon loves air hockey and right off the bat, challenged me to a game. While he was pretty good, the go carts are one of his favorite things to do.

After a bit, I sat down with Brandon for a little one-on-one and learned he is very school and career-minded.

"I like math, music, P.E., arts – everything,” Brandon said.

Brandon said when he grows up he wants to be a soldier or a police officer. And while he sure has a great head on his soldiers, he still likes to have fun like any seven-year-old. And he’s looking for a Big Brother to share some of that fun with.

"I like to ride the rides, go to the carnival, and play at the park and do a lot of fun stuff,” Brandon said.

Back inside, we played bumper cars, raced motorcycles, and played some skee ball before it was time to go home.
