Wednesday's Child: Devin

By Kevin White

WICHITA, Kansas, Apr. 04, 2007 -- Six-year-old Devin had never played miniature golf before, so on a warm and very windy day we hit the links at All Star Sports.

Both Devin and I had better luck hitting our photographer than we did getting the ball in the hole, but eventually we both began to hone our skills.

Devin wants to be a fireman when he grows up, but for now he's looking for an adult who can just spend some time with him. Since he spends a lot of time playing video games inside, doing things out doors is a nice change of pace.

While a little shy at first, Devin has an easy laugh, a good personality and a heck of a golf swing.

You know, it only takes about 30 to 45 minutes a week to be a Big Brother. And now that the weather is starting to get nice, how about spending some time outside with a young man or woman who would like to spend time with you? The important thing is to give Big Brothers a chance -- give these kids a chance too.

You can learn more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters program by calling 1-888-KS4-BIGS or visit their website at ksbbbs.org.
