WICHITA, Kansas - - The Wichita Thunder scored early to defeat the Allen Americans to even the Central Hockey League Championship series Friday night at Intrust Bank Arena.
The Thunder took down Allen 3 to 2 to square the best-of-seven series at 3-all. The deciding contest will be Saturday night in Allen.
Three different Wichita players scored in the first period and Torrie Jung won his 11th playoff game for the Thunder.
Trailing 1 to 0, Wichita's Gregg Hanson scored at 14:42 mark to tie the contest. Just 30 seconds later, Kevin Young put the puck in the net to give the Thunder the lead for good. Ian Lowe finished the first period onslaught to put Wichita up 3 to 1.
Allen scored in the second period to close the gap to 3 to 2.
In the third, Wichita received two different penalties with less than ten minutes left in the game. The Thunder lines killed both power plays with no shots taken on goal to preserve the win.
While the House plans to vote on a short term extension to carry over till a permanent bill can be reached next session, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that's not an option.
