GARY, Indiana - - The Gary SouthShore RailCats won the first game of 2013 American Association Championship Series with a 9 to 4 victory over the Wichita Wingnuts Tuesday night.
In the top of the second, Wichita took the lead first for a fourth straight playoff game. David Amberson's double drove home C.J. Ziegler with the first run of the game.
A three-run homer from Jake Kahaulelio put the Wingnuts ahead 4 to 3 in the seventh inning.
Gary answered with four runs in the home half of the frame. Daunny Pulfer two-run double gave the RailCats a 6 to 4 lead and would tack on three insurance runs.
Game two of the finals will be Wednesday in Gary. The series shifts to Wichita for a contest Friday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
If necessary games four and five are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Wichita.
