Laura's Look: Winter on the way out

Cold weather is on the way. A quick warm up is on tap this week, raising a concern for fire danger.

The wind machine is OFF today. Under sun drenched skies, temperatures climb into the 60s this afternoon. Slightly edging near normal for this time of year.

A slight breeze from the south picks up tonight. It'll be chilly in the 40s under clear skies.

Then here comes the wind. Wind swept warmth sends summer back into Kansas. Red Flag Warnings have been posted in western Kansas for Tuesday. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged during this time.

Fire danger stays high with more ups and downs with in our temperatures this week.

Our next storm system arrives by week's end pulling in beneficial moisture. Rain chances increase Friday into Saturday and linger through early Sunday.

As cold air builds back during this time period, a rain snow mix is possible for northern Kansas. The rest of the state looks to stay warm enough for just plain rain. Stay tuned.
