KSN Meteorologist

Jack joined the KSN Storm Track 3 weather team in December 2022 bringing 43 years of forecasting and broadcasting experience which began in 1979 working as a weekend Meteorologist on WTEN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Albany, New York. This is also where Jack received his Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences at SUNY Albany.

Jack’s interest in weather was sparked at the age of 10 by severe thunderstorms that relocated his family’s patio furniture as they rolled in off Lake Ontario. He continued to build toward his career by keeping his own local weather records for Youngstown, New York, keeping a record of heating degree days for the local U.S. Post Office and giving a daily weather forecast in the morning announcements at Suffern High School in Suffern, New York.

After graduating college, Jack began his career as a TV weather broadcaster right here in Wichita in 1982. He did local forecasts for the now defunct Satellite News channel while working for WeatherData, a company that was based right in the current KSN Channel 3 studios! KSN’s call letters at the time were KARD.

Jack worked for Compu Weather, a private weather firm in New York City before resuming his TV weather career at WITI-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1984-1990 then moved onto WFRV-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin from 1991-1995. After 4 years of part-time TV work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1995-1999 before moving into the private sector at AccuWeather based in State College, PA. Jack was transferred to AccuWeather’s Wichita offices in 2015 where he finished his 21 years with the company in 2020. His job included radio and TV broadcasting, severe weather, tropical weather and long-range weather forecasting.

Jack returned to television as a TV meteorologist at KAKE-TV in Wichita in 2021 before moving to KSN-TV in December of 2022. He is very excited to keep Kansans informed and safe when it comes to the many forms of impactful, life-affecting and life-threatening weather that affects all of us here in the Central Plains.

Jack has been married to his wife Karen for more than 25 years and they have 4 children: Seth, Katie, Heather and Matthew. Jack loves to golf and to play his guitar and sing with his on-line band.
