Jasmine joined KSN in October 2018 after spending 4 years in Victoria, TX, at KAVU as a morning anchor/producer and reporter. She is excited to make Wichita her home and tell stories that will make a difference in the community. Raised just outside of Houston in Conroe, TX, Jasmine graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and received her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. And because she loves journalism so much, she also has a master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from Syracuse University.
At her previous station in Victoria, TX, She provided four days of wall-to-wall coverage of Hurricane Harvey as the devastating storm made landfall along the Texas coast. Jasmine felt the hurricane’s impact both personally and professionally. It’s a storm she’ll always remember.
She enjoys not only telling stories but also connecting with the community. In 2016, she competed in the Dancing with the Stars – Victoria Style charity event. Jasmine and her dance partner not only won the mirror ball trophy but also helped raise more than $6,000 for the Billy T. Cattan Recovery Outreach Center. It’s a center that helps adults overcome alcohol and drug addiction. In 2017, she was selected as one of the 35 Under 40: Young Professionals of the Crossroads. It’s a yearly publication that highlights Victoria area residents who have made a heavy impact on their community and careers. She looks forward to getting involved with the Wichita community.
Jasmine is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
When she’s not reporting the news, she enjoys spending time with her fiance, family, dancing and cooking delicious soul food that will have you wanting seconds.
