Sam Montero

Sam Montero joined the KSN news team in November 2020. Sam is a native of the sunny and diverse Miami, Florida who grew up speaking Spanish and English in her Cuban-American household.

After graduating from the School of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, Sam was selected by the U.S. State Department to serve as a Cultural Ambassador in Germany. During that time, she worked as on-camera talent for an international sporting company, traveling across Europe to cover events.

In 2015, Sam returned to Miami where she worked as a producer and digital reporter for the sports department at Telemundo Network, where she won two National Emmy Awards for her outstanding coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In her downtime, Sam enjoys traveling the world, cooking — especially alongside her grandmother — and performing improv comedy. As an avid runner, Sam can also be caught triathlon training, so don’t be afraid to say hi!

Sam Montero se unió al equipo de Telemundo Kansas en noviembre del 2020. Nació en Miami, Florida. Su familia es cubana y ella se considera cubana-americana.  

Después de graduarse de la Universidad de la Florida en comunicaciones, Sam trabajó por el Departamento del Estado en Alemania. Durante ese tiempo, ella era una reportera cubriendo deportes en Europa. 

En el 2015, Sam regresó a su nativo Miami y trabajó como productora y reportera digital para el departamento de deportes en la cadena Telemundo. Ahí ganó dos premios Emmys nacionales por su cobertura excepcional de los Juegos Olímpicos de Río 2016 y La Copa Mundial de la FIFA Rusia 2018. 

A Sam le encanta viajar, cocinar y actuar comedias improvisadas. También le gusta practicar varios deportes.
