Shaquira Martin joins the team from Lafayette, Louisiana. Born and raised in San Antonio TX, Shaquira is a proud Sam Houston State University alumna. She graduated with a Bachelors in Mass Communication and a concentration in Broadcasting Journalism with a minor in Spanish. She earned her Masters in Professional Communication with a focus on Digital Media at Texas Southern University.
While in Louisiana, Shaquira covered LSU’s national championship season, the Saints’ infamous “no call” game and season, Peyton Manning’s induction into the Louisiana Hall of Fame along with a historic football season with the Ragin Cajuns. She also visited high schools within the community, talking with inspiring students who are studying journalism and engaged in social media platforms. She has appeared on several radio shows and has been featured in the Voyage Houston Press.
When Shaquira isn’t attempting to experience something new in life, her hobbies include hanging out with her dog, King Nip, riding her Peloton bike, running a half marathon, singing the latest Beyoncé song, cooking her favorite meals and of course indulging in her favorite TV shows. Shaquira also volunteers in local community events and with her church. She enjoys having open conversations on modern-day topics with younger and older generations to create solutions on everyday issues. She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
