Sir Paul rocks in Wichita for the first time

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The sounds of Yellow Submarine, Band on the Run, and No More Lonely Nights could be heard coming from Intrust Bank Arena Wednesday night.

Therese Goren loves everything about Paul McCartney, so she could barely contain her excitement.

“Oh yay!” Goren exclaimed.

Goren found out she was going to the show just hours before it started.

“This is a wonderful, amazing opportunity and I’m super, super thrilled,” added Goren.

Goren works with Envision, a company that helps the visually impaired. The company was awarded with 14 tickets by Sir Paul himself. In order to decide which employees got to see McCartney live, Envision had an essay contest where each person wrote about how music inspires them.

“The group that we are taking there tonight is just going to have this great connection to the concert and also feel a little honored and special that they are there by personal invitation from Sir Paul,” said Angela Cato, Envision.

Hours before the concert hundreds of people braved the heat, anxiously waiting in line outside the arena.

“It’s my first time seeing a Beatle in the flesh so I’m pretty excited about it,” said Shane Schneider, Beatles fan from Lyons.

“I’m just expecting a great show, hoping for a little Wings, a little solo stuff, of course some Beatles,” added Schneider.

Other die-hard fans like Donna Stejskal made the three-hour drive from Burdette to see Paul in person.

“It’s been a hard days night,” sang Stejskal.

Stejskal said this is her third time seeing the famous Beatle.

“He kept back on stage several times and playing in Tulsa, he was at the BOK Center down there, so when I found out it was going to be here, I decided we have to come here,” she said.

It’s a show many of McCartney’s die-hard fans say is worth seeing over and over again.

“It doesn’t get old,” said McCartney fan Jo Roitman of Wellington. “I would see him 10 more times if I could.”

The next stop for Sir Paul on his tour is Des Moines, Iowa.

His concert here tonight was his first ever trip to the Sunflower State. And by the looks of it, it was definitely a success.
