Twice before, it seemed the clock had run out on “Timeless,” but against all odds it’s back tonight for something very rare in network television, the chance to say farewell months after being canceled.
“We aren’t supposed to be here, it is very interesting how real life keeps mirroring what’s happening on the show,” says star Abigail Spencer.
Canceled, then uncanceled after its first season, “Timeless” got the hook again after last May’s season finale.
Fans mobilized to save the show again with an extensive campaign.
Producers tried to find “Timeless” a new home, but couldn’t, so they worked a deal with NBC to reward passionate fans with closure with a single episode series finale.
That means a final mission tonight.
“Timeless” producers have taken to calling tonight’s movie an “NBC finale,” clinging to the hopes, however slim, that the series might yet return again in some form or fashion.
