We had the opportunity to learn about an incredible place in Downtown Wichita that aims to ensure community members have a place to feel safe, comfortable, connected and as though they are welcome to contribute to the greater good. Chances are you have passed it if you spend time in Downtown Wichita. Located right off Douglas the Chain Link Gallery Place sits in the previous home of the Pop Up Park.
Kate VanSteenhuyse, Co Founder and Executive Director of Harvester Arts spend time sharing with us about this new public space. Kate many other community members have spent countless hours thinking through the best ways to use this space and encourage the community to connect with local artists. In the Chain Link Gallery Place there is a wall full of blank canvases community members are encouraged to create art on. Really the entire Chain Lin Galley Place is a canvas, you can paint on the tables, chairs, rocks, really anywhere you feel.
The Chain Link fence is home to the temporary gallery showcasing local artists work. The group that is currently on display is called Be Seen. This collection of art done by a group of local artists is beautiful, powerful and eye catching. The artists have such talent to create something that is aesthetically pleasing but also sends a message. This display will rotate soon, head down to the Chain Link Gallery Place to enjoy the art and maybe even contribute. Learn more info on the hours of operation by visiting Chain Link Gallery Place on Facebook.
