We are bringing in a new DIY segment to show different crafts, home improvement, gift ideas and more. Today I had a great time making personalized Mod Podge Coasters for my mother for Mother’s Day this weekend. To be honest this was the first time I had ever used Mod Podge but I had always heard it is so easy to use and results in a pretty great gift. I also loved this idea because it is veery cost efficient and fairly simple as well. To start you will need tiles; I chose 4×4 white ceramic tiles from Lowe’s and they cost only $o.15 each! Next you will need to select the photos or the fabric you would like to use for the coaster. I simply printed out photos my from mom’s Facebook page and made sure there was at least one of all of her five children and of course three grandsons, and a couple of My Father as well. I used the coaster as a cropping guide and made sure to give myself an idea of how much of the photo I wanted visible so I would lay the tile on the photo and draw lines where I wanted to ‘crop’ the photo and where I knew I needed to cut. After I trimmed them I painted the first layer of mod podge onto the tile. You do not need to allow dry time there, instead simply lay your photo on the tile and smooth it out really making sure the perimeter and edges are all smooth. Once the photo is laid out how you would like it the next step is to paint the layer of mod podge on top of the photo. This should be a fairly think layer. I recommend letting that dry for about 20-30 mins. After that I would add one more layer and wait again. At this point if you would like you can spray sealant mod podge if you would like (I did not do this step) I recommend letting them dry overnight if possible or at least a few hours. That’s it, it’s as easy as that! Let me know if you make some fun mod podge crafts! I would love to see them!
