April 14th, 2020 was marked as Opening Day for Wichita Wind Surge’s inaugural season. Unfortunately the COVID 19 Pandemic has the start of the season postponed for now. We wanted to check in with our friends at the Wind Surge Organization to see how they are planning on moving forward and really one statement sums it all up …”We were ready for you and we’re still ready. When we get the call we’ll let you know…” I had the chance to sit down with Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Wichita Wind Surge, Bob Moulette to hear how they are doing. Bob was one fo the first member of the Wind Surge organization (back then referred to as Wichita baseball 2020) to arrive in Wichita. He has been in the trenches for about a year now and is eager to show the city what the organization has been working on. Bob shared that the work on Riverfront Stadium was on pace for opening day, but once the Stay at Home Order was put in place they slowed down drastically. The team wants everyone to be safe, follow the order and practice patience. Bob and the Community Relations Department have been active with different community initiative such as the ‘There’s No Place Like Home” campaign which has generated over $10k for the Wichita Community Foundation. You are able to order a t shirt or check out some of the fun cooking segments, activities, uniform design coloring pages, etc. https://www.milb.com/wichita Just know the Wichita Wind Surge Family is ready, as soon as they get the call they will be ready to have you join them at Riverfront Stadium and to “Play Ball”
