We hit the ice at the Wichita Ice center to learn more about an upcoming game that is raising money for local children fighting cancer. Jake Nobel and his crew at Gold As Ice use their love for the game of hockey to help provide a unique and powerful platform to raise money.
For years now this game has been happing and each year the proceeds help a local family. It all started with a player on an adult hockey league team whose child was diagnosed with a form of cancer at the mere age of 18 months. The team came together and started raising money for the family. This kind gesture has transformed into a full-on annual event that raises money and shares support for local families.
The Gold As Ice game will take place prior to the Wichita Thunder game this Saturday at INTRUST Banc arena. When you purchase a ticket for the game you are granted access to both hockey games that night and you are supporting. Other ways to donate or help raise funds are by bidding on the game-worn jerseys the players will be wearing.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased by accessing the link on the Gold As Ice Facebook Page. Thank you in advance for your support! And thank you to the Gold As Ice league, many players who participate each year, and to the Wichita Thunder for contributing to this fundraiser.
