I had the opportunity to speak with Jackie Aday of Children’s Mercy Wichita. Jackie is a nurse and a diabetes educator for the hospital. As a diabetes educator, Jackie meets with families on a regular basis. Patients have appointments where they review their glucose readings and monitoring their blood sugar and prescriptions. Although insulin pumps have been around for a long time, the technology has really improved in the last five years. The data can monitor the glucose levels every five minutes and that information can be sent to the parent’s phones. All of this technology is current and can make someone living with diabetes feel more secure. If you want to find out more information, you can do so on their website at: https://www.childrensmercy.org/locations/childrens-mercy-wichita/
