I was thrilled to visit the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame and hear from President and CEO of the Kansas State Hall of Fame, Jordan Poland. He shared the goal of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame is three fold; they aim to honor, educate and inspire Kansas of all ages about the athletic history in Kansas. Also to celebrate athletes and coaches and share the rich history Kansas possesses. In our home state Kansas boasts many incredible names: Jordy Nelson, Jackie Styles, Phog Allen, the list goes on. When I asked Jordan who he is most proud of he mentioned there are 234 athletes/coaches in the Hall and 13 more to come later this month. He mentioned well known athletes and coaches are all impactful in their own way and have a story that should make every Kansan proud and honor every level of athletics. Next weekend is the Annual Induction ceremony where the 13 inductees will gather with their families and loved ones and receive the honor of being inducted into the hall. The event will take place on Sunday Oct. 6th at the Kansas Star Casino with cocktail hour, dinner, and the full program starting with 13 inductees. This is a huge night to celebrate sports in Kansas and relive some of the best sports moments thanks to the incredible new class of inductees. Check out the website for info and ways to support the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
