On today’s Let’s Grow It segment we heard from Jason French, Retail Manager at Stutzman’s Greenhouse and Garden Center. We saw one of his favorite plants, the Crape Myrtles! The large plants are typically found down south but the smaller more winter hearty Crape Myrtles are also found in the Kansas area where it is a little colder. Here in Kansas the shrubs are found as a great addition to your garden. The Crape Myrtle plants are part of the Barista Collection which all have fun coffee influenced names such as the cherry mocha and the dark roast. Like coffee these plants are pretty strong and will make it through the heat, which here in Kansas is great. These heat-loving plants can be out in full sun and often times while out in sun will turn slightly darker. Crape Myrtles are about 2 –3 ft long and have great color that continues all year long. The Crape Myrtle can be found at all the garden centers be sure to check them out!
