In our travels eastbound last week we stopped in to Eureka to explore their main street and learn a little but about this beautiful mural. This might be my favorite #MuralMonday to date! The mural titled: “Welcome To Eureka” is eye catching from far away with its bold colors but once you get up close you see there is more to it! An entire story and truly the story of Eureka can be told by looking at each letter, one by one. The first E boasts an old barber shop light, a nod to the building the mural lives. The U showcases the zip code for Eureka while the R features the Greenwood Hotel, a historic and iconic landmark in the town. The second E captures a roaming tornado which used to be the high school mascot; the K displays the faces of a cow to tribute the importance of the local beef economy. The final letter, A is a nice finale, it features the beautiful waterfall in Eureka, a favorite of both the locals and those that pass by. This beautiful piece of art is a fantastic representation of the town. While we were there filming we met a few community members who were so kind and proud of the message the mural sends … Eureka is happy to welcome you and share a little bit of their town with you.
