On The Sideline: Brent Bowers

Good Day Kansas

899! That’s what Brent Bowers bowled just a few weeks ago at a weekly tournament at Northrock Lanes in Wichita where Brent is also the General Manager. Brent has been bowling since he was a young kid and his bowling has taken him to WSU, the Junior USA bowling team, and beyond. His 899 shattered his previous record of 855 and was just one pin away from a perfect 900. For a different perspective, that is 35 out of 36 possible strikes! Brent bowled a 299 in the first of the three games, and it wasn’t long before a crowd formed behind him. With the final frames approaching, the crowd quickly grew and as you can see in the segment, Brent was met with thunderous applause after bowling a strike on that last frame, cementing his 899. While watching Brent bowl during the segment, I noticed he had a very unique and practiced routine before he released the ball. So naturally, I had to ask him about it! In the segment, Brent explains all the different steps and things he does between picking up the ball and releasing it. To close the segment Brent shared all about the different weekly tournaments Northrock Lanes hosts, including a variety for both the casual and more serious bowlers.
