Our On The Sidelines segments are designed to highlight local athletes and teams doing big things. We have had the chance to celebrate many successful, hardworking, student athletes passionately building their athletic careers and representing their schools and communities beautifully.
This week we leveled up a bit! Meet Cooper and Kaitlyn, Veterans on the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleading squad. The #Wichita Natives have accomplished many incredible things in their athletic endeavors, maybe most notably adding Super Bowl Champion NFL Cheerleader to their resume.
Cooper and Kailtyn both grew up dancing at studios in #Wichita Cooper grew her passion for dance while spending time at Midwest Dance Mechanics. Kaitlyn danced for her school, Andover High School and credits her time with their teammates there and at KU for the drive and desire to continue dancing even after finish law school and starting her career.
Cooper and Kaitlyn share a love for dance, being a part of a team, competing and performing. Kaitlyn’s friendships and the bonds that were created while dancing at KU is what lead her to audition for the Chiefs Cheerleaders. Cooper’s sights were set on becoming an NFL cheerleader after meeting Stephanie Judah, Chiefs Cheer Director when Stephanie brought current Chiefs Cheerleader to K State for a cheer/dance clinic.
I can speak from experience on this: when you meet Stephanie Judah and learn what she is about and what she has built the Chiefs Cheer organization to be, it is very difficult to not want to be a part of it. Working with Stephanie as part of the Chiefs Cheer organization provides an avenue for woman to continue dancing on a competitive level while impacting their community and supporting our military members and families. The personal growth is inevitable and the experiences are life changing. The Chiefs Cheerleaders work with youth in our community and encourage them to dream big, work hard and create healthy habits. Chiefs Cheerleaders also make countless community appearances, attend events, and spend time enhancing and celebrating our community. They are ambassadors for the Chiefs Organization, the #ChiefsKingdom and furthermore are incredible role models for our community.
Kaitlyn and Cooper are fabulous examples of student athletes who grew up in the Wichita area received guidance, inspiration and encouragement to reach for their dreams. They put in the work, stayed focused and grew as athletes, women and professionals. Cooper is currently an elementary school teacher and Kaitlyn practices law; both are making #Wichita proud as thriving members of the #ChiefsKingdom Catch the girls on gameday at Arrowhead or support them and follow their journey on the Chiefs Cheerleader’s Instagram Page.
