Secret Spots: Victorian Lantern Bed And Breakfast

Good Day Kansas

Thursdays are one of my favorite days because we feature our #SecretSpots segment! The goal of this segment is to share with you interesting, unique places across the state that you may not have visited yet or maybe even knew existed. Today our #SecretSpots segment took us to Kingman where we had the pleasure of meeting Rayma and Dave Rowland, Owners of the Victorian Lantern Bed and Breakfast.

Upon arriving my attention was drawn to the beautiful Victorian lantern perched right outside, front and center of the front yard. It felt welcoming and stood stoically As my attention moved to the front door I saw sweet Rayma waiving and smiling a huge warm genuine welcome. Once inside Dave emerged and I immediately fell in love with the sweet couple. The gushed about the house and told the story of it dating back to 1887 and all the different owners. They are so proud of the work the family has put in to this beautiful Victorian themed home and took us on a tour to show off the chic antique filled bed and breakfast.

Rayma and Dave each pointed out different elements of the home that they rebuilt or discovered years after opening and even told stories about sweet guests who made memories at the quaint bed and breakfast. The rooms are all restored impeccably and have a unique mixture of the original vintage feel highlighted by pieces of updated decor. Each room evokes a different feeling with the underlying theme of the comfort, that feeling you experience when you go back to the home you grew up in.

Although I was blown away by the attention to detail and the way each linen hung so perfectly and the window treatments being so softly rustic I think the big beds were my favorite feature. Or possible the claw foot tubs! Every way I turned my attention was caught by a different piece of furniture.

Once we made our way through the dining room which featured an old china cabinet we reached the kitchen and saw the original stove from 1887! Man they did such a fabulous job of restoring the hundred plus year old home. Although the pieces were very old everything was immaculately clean.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway or just a nice change of scenery I highly recommend visiting the bed and breakfast. My absolute biggest takeaway from this #SecretSpots adventure was feeling blessed to have met the loving couple who shared memories of their children, grandchildren, neighbors, guests.
