We are proud to call Kansas our home and wanted to celebrate the local community of Hays for work they are doing during this difficult time staying at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. To stat the Hays CVB donated 1,400 bags to teachers to assist in their transition from teaching at school to now educating their studnets from home. Also, the school district quickly pivoted to distributing lunches in a drive thru like format for students during this time when they are not attending school in person. Unfortunately a member of the school district’s team tested positive for COVID19 and the lunch distribution had to stop. Local businesses stepped up to the plate and helped in a variety of ways to ensure meals made it to students in need. Some restaurants gave discounted meals, others free kids meals, and some even distributed lunch themselves. Other community members also donated monetarily to ensure students continue to receive meals. This is a fantastic example of communities supporting each other!
