It’s always a fun time when I get to hang out in the kitchen with Dan Crandall, The Pie Guy, and owner of Spear’s Restaurant & Pie Shop! I joined Dan in the kitchen, as we will do monthly, to get an inside look at their delicious pie of the month!
For the month of May, they have chosen one of my personal favorites which is a Strawberry Cream Cheese pie. As you can see in the segment, Dan walked me step by step through the process. We started with a glaze which was just a few ingredients mostly sugar, starch, and water, and Dan taught me how to spread it throughout the pie crust. We then took their fresh diced strawberries and mixed them in the pie. Lastly, we topped it off with their sweet cream cheese and made it look nice and pretty! Dan’s pie looked a lot better than mine but that’s ok!
May is a special month for Spear’s Restaurant & Pie Shop because it is their 65th anniversary! Not only that, but they have a Mother’s Day special as well which will take place this Sunday, May 9th.
