WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita company says it is more than doubling its workforce from what it was a year ago.
Airxcel, 3050 N. St. Francis, is a manufacturing company that makes a multitude of products. Some of the products it makes are for recreational vehicles. During the coronavirus pandemic, demand for recreational vehicles increased, which then increased demand for Airxcel products.
The company has already hired 265 new employees and plans to hire 100 more. Combined, those new employees will double the company’s workforce. Airxcel is also investing $4 million into its Wichita facility over the coming years.
CEO Jeff Rutherford thanked the Greater Wichita Partnership team who put together a competitive business case for Airxcel to grow its Wichita operation.
“Wichita’s world-class manufacturing workforce, the manufacturing expertise and specialization, and really a supportive community have played a major role in the success of Airxcel,” Rutherford said.
He says the company is also celebrating two milestones this year — Airxcel’s 30th anniversary in Wichita and, soon, the delivery of its 8 millionth air conditioning unit.
Rutherford says Airxcel is hiring immediately. If you want to look over the jobs available, visit Airxcel.com.
“Airxcel is a classic success story in Wichita’s manufacturing sector and I believe that this expansion creates a blueprint for companies and the city to follow,” Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said.
