Both suspects in the shooting of a loss prevention officer at the Menards on North Maize Road near 37th Street North are in custody. It happened just before 5 p.m. Monday.
Police tell KSN News a 34-year-old Menards loss prevention officer was wounded during a shoplifting incident. The two suspects exited the store carrying a home surveillance system they had not paid for.
“The loss prevention officer contacted the suspects outside the business and shots were fired,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department.
Police said the bullet grazed the loss prevention officer’s stomach. He was treated and released from the hospital.
An 18-year-old male was arrested Wednesday in Hays. A 17-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday after crashing a stolen Mercedes in Derby.
