2 Garden City residents arrested in Colorado homicide case

LA JUNTA, Colo. (KSNW) – Two Garden City residents were arrested in connection with the homicide of a La Junta, Colorado man.

The homicide happened Friday around 6:30 p.m. according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Ernesto Apodaca was found shot inside of his car parked in front of his apartment building located in the 600 block of Sunrise Ave.

Matthew Perez was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder and Nikki Olivas was booked on suspicion of accessory to first-degree murder. Both were arrested just outside of Garden City. The CBI said it is believed Apodaca and Perez are known to one another; however, the circumstances surrounding the shooting are part of the investigation.
