Fight between two men leads to shooting in southeast Wichita

Wichita police said a fight between two men ended in a shooting Monday night. It occurred in the 3900 block of East Lincoln just after 6 p.m.

Wichita police officer Paul Cruz said two men were in a vehicle when they got into an argument. A 21-year-old man pulled a gun and shot the 30-year-old man multiple times. Cruz said the victim then then grabbed the gun and hit the other man with it several times.

Officers arrived on the scene and found the 21-year-old man with injuries to his head. Meanwhile, officers learned a 30-year-old man arrived at Wesley Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. A citizen drove the man to the hospital. 

“The female and 30-year-old male started to verbally argue. The 21-year-old male intervened in the argument. A physical disturbance began between the two males. During the physical disturbance, the 21-year-old male brandished firearm and fired multiple shots which struck the 30-year-old male,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department. 

The 30-year-old man remains in the hospital.

The 21-year-old man was treated for his head injuries. He was booked on suspicion of aggravated battery. According to jail booking records, he is identified as Nicholas L. Baker.
