Judge sentences Wichita man to 55 years for shooting death

A man has been sentenced in the shooting death of another man in south Wichita. 

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced 31-year-old Emmanuel Reed of Wichita to 662 months in prison.

On May 2, 31-year-old Bretodd Williams of Wichita was shot in the 1700 block of South Elpyco. An eyewitness told police that while driving by, he saw Reed and Mr. Williams talking in the street. He then heard what sounded like fireworks exploding behind him. Mr. Williams died of multiple gunshot wounds.

On November 5, a jury found Reed guilty of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon.
