Man arrested after causing damage to six light poles at Towne West Square

Wichita police said a 43-year-old man was arrested after causing damage to six light poles at Towne West Square Friday evening. It happened around 7 p.m.

A citizen alerted an off-duty officer that a man was taking copper wire from several light poles. 

Officers responded to the area and located the man inside a gold sedan traveling south on West Street.

Officers stopped the car in a parking lot in the 500 block of South West Street. The suspect inside ran. Officers caught up and arrested him. 

According to police, Rodnee Cain was booked on suspicion of six counts of destruction to property, aggravated weapons violation, and an outstanding warrant. 

Police said a teenage driver and passenger were also inside the car with Cain.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
