Wichita police said a 26-year-old man was arrested after a standoff Sunday night in southeast Wichita.  It happened around 8:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of East Stearman.

Police responded to a burglary call at the home. Officers found the suspect inside. A woman, who lives in the home, was next door.

“The investigation revealed the female had an active protection from abuse order against her son,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department.

Police said the man refused to exit. The SWAT team responded and was able to take the man into custody.

Jail records show 26-year-old Dakota Schoenecker was arrested on a violation of protection from abuse order, trespass and criminal damage to property.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
