Man arrested for 5 counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer

Wichita police said a 42-year-old man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of five counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. It happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of North County Acres

Police said they responded to a domestic violence call on West 10th Street North after a woman said her ex-husband started a fight.

Officers located the suspect, identified as Paul Westphal, in the area. A pursuit ensued. 

Officers said Westphal pulled into a driveway on Country Acres and fled on foot. He allegedly had a gun in his hand. Police arrested him.

Westphal was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. He faces charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement officer, flee and elude, and violating a protection from abuse order.
