WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A man in his 20s was killed in a shooting in northeast Wichita early Friday morning.
The Wichita Police Department said Clemente Camarillo, 22, of Wichita, was driving an SUV in northeast Wichita with a passenger. Shortly before 2 a.m., near 13th and Oliver, someone opened fire on his vehicle.
Camarillo was hit once. His SUV crashed through a fence and into a garage in the backyard of a home in the 1400 block of North Harding.
Camarillo died at the scene. His 25-year-old male passenger was not injured.
Police say their investigation revealed that Camarillo’s SUV was eastbound, and the suspect vehicle was eastbound when the shooting happened.
Investigators say one or more people in the suspect vehicle opened fire on the SUV. They do not have a good description of the car, just that it may have been a blue sedan.
Investigators say this was not a random attack. Instead, they believe it was a targeted incident, but they will not release any other information this early in the investigation.
