Man shot by girlfriend early Friday expected to recover


WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Police arrested a 45-year-old woman after she allegedly shot her 45-year-old boyfriend early Friday morning after a fight. The shooting happened in the 1400 block of North Battin near 13th and Oliver around 12:15. 

“There was one adult male inside the residence with a gunshot wound to the chest who was transported by EMS to a local hospital,” said Sgt. J.D. Summerer, Wichita Police Department. 

Police later clarified he was shot in the shoulder and that he will recover. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Sharon Wells on suspicion of aggravated battery.

Multiple children, between 12 and 18 years old, were in the house at the time of the shooting. They were not injured. 

Police said the couple had a history of domestic violence in the past. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
