Man shot in early morning shooting, police working to locate suspect

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A 28-year-old man was shot early Saturday morning in the 1700 block of S. Gold. That's in southwest Wichita. 

Authorities say he was shot in the back and taken to a local hospital for treatment around 4:30 Saturday morning. His injuries were non-life-threatening. 

WPD officers say the investigation revealed the man and a 29-year-old woman were sitting inside a white 2003 Chevy Impala parked in the driveway of a home when a known 34-year-old man walked up to the vehicle and fired multiple shots at the victim.

That man then left the scene on foot.

Police say the car was a reported stolen vehicle. Police continue to investigate and they are working to locate the male suspect.
