McPherson police identify shooting victim

Crime

Police in McPherson have identified a man who was found shot in a mobile home park early Monday morning.

Police Chief Robert McClarty said in a news release the victim was identified as Jordan Krell, 22, of Canton.

McClarty said officers were dispatched to a call of shots fired at the Mustang Mobile Home Park around 12:25 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found Krell lying in an empty lot, unconscious and unresponsive. Krell was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

A 17-year-old McPherson man has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property. Because he is a minor, the man was booked into a juvenile detention facility.

McClarty said the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has assisted the McPherson Police Department in the investigation.
