Wichita police said a 27-year-old man died after he was shot Sunday. It happened just before 5 a.m. in the 1100 block of South Fern.

Police said the victim, identified as 27-year-old Hector Ortega, died at the hospital on Tuesday.

He was found in a 2018 Honda Accord with a gunshot wound.

“What we know so far, Mr. Ortega arrived in a Honda and parked the vehicle on South Fern. There was an argument out in the street that resulted in him being shot once,” said Capt. Brent Allred, Wichita Police Department.

So far, police do not have a suspect. If you know anything, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or detectives at 268-4407.

Police said it is not believe to be a random incident.

It is the fourth homicide in Wichita this year.
