Wichita police investigating a shooting in south Wichita


WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita police are investigating why a woman was shot Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old woman is in the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police learned of the shooting after someone called 911 shortly before 10 p.m. The caller said a woman had been shot while in the 2600 block of South Topeka. The caller said the woman left in a vehicle.

Officers found and stopped the vehicle in the 1500 block of Pawnee. The woman was inside and was suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was in serious condition as EMS took her to the hospital.
